Post M11/Scars

What the hell, how did someone get away with fake spoilers and then having MTGSalvation admit it into their spoilers? Ugh. So Imperious Perfect and such are not in M11, but I'm sure it caused a spike in sales.

As for my last prediction, there was no powerful spell in red, as it only got two mythics.

New prediction: There will be a liege of each color. We have Liege of the Tangle so far, and I think we will see a pattern following the pulses from the old Mirrodin block. So we'll see Liege of Dross, Liege of the Forge, etc.

Post-Eldrazi

Ahahaha, man was I wrong. That's what makes predicting so fun, you get to see what you think in the past and compare it with yourself in the present. Not only was I wrong about the planeswalker count, but they're also reprinting the Lorwyn planeswalkers in M11. When you think about it, Elspeth's power level is too good for a core set. It's even sillier that people want Jace, Mind Sculptor in M11. I know he's hard to get, but come on people.

With titans revealed in each color and Garruk, Baneslayer etc revealed, I'm thinking that the mythic rares will be like this:
5 titans, 5 planeswalkers, 5 powerful spells, one for each color. Gaea's Revenge for green is hilarious, and Time Reversal for blue is awesome.

Now that Imperious Perfect is being reprinted, I'm wondering if now would be a good time to pick up the extended art promos on eBay.

Of all the art to update, why couldn't it be Tome Scour? That guy looks like a douche. Mind Control, however, is welcome. I couldn't stand Quasimodo and used the gateway promo whenever possible.

Rise of Eldrazi predictions

Our first wave of Planewalkers, from Lorwyn (originally intended to be in Future Sight but they didn't have room) followed the color wheel. We had one each for White (Ajani Goldmane), Blue (Jace Beleren), Black (Liliana Vess), Red (Chandra Nalaar), and Green (Garruk Wildspeaker). In Alara, we had one for each Shard: Bant (Elspeth Tirel), Esper (Tezzeret), Grixis (Nicol Bolas), Jund (Sarkhan Vol), and Naya (Ajani Goldmane). Note that Ajani is not green. But in a way, this cycle of Planeswalkers still follows the color wheel. Each Shard has a central color: Bant is White, Esper is Blue, Grixis is Black, Jund is Red, and Naya is Green. So we have two cycles of Planeswalkers that follow the color wheel. In Zendikar we have Sorin Markov who is Black, Chandra Ablaze who is Red, and Nissa Revane who is Green. In Worldwake we get Jace, Mind Sculptor who is Blue.

Following the trend that has been established, we should be expecting a White Planeswalker. However Sarkhan Vol is on Zendikar guarding the Eye of Ugin. I believe that he will become White since he is the only remaining Planeswalker, and the Eye of Ugin is powerful enough to do that. In one scene of the comic, Chandra is consumed by white fire but is still Red. Perhaps this is done by Sarkhan Vol? However, many other people believe that he will be Grixis colors since he has started losing his mind and is a slave of Nicol Bolas. I think that if he has gotten so bad from insanity, the Eye of Ugin would heal him so that he would be able to protect the Eye of Ugin better.

But would Wizards really break the color wheel and not make him White? And who would be left to fill the void of the White Planeswalker slot? A friend of mine speculated that Elspeth would come to Zendikar, but why? And if they do make both of them, that would be an unprecedented number of six Planeswalkers in a set. And if they did have six Planeswalkers, why stop there? Why not bring back all of them to stop the Eldrazi?

Another thing to keep in mind is that Nissa has been playing around with Black mana, and has teamed up with Sorin Markov. Maybe we will also see her as a Black Green Planeswalker?

As big as the Rise of the Eldrazi set may be, there may not be enough room for extra Planeswalkers. Kozilek, Butcher of Truth has already been introduced, and he is number six out of the set meaning there may be five that come before him, and maybe more after him.
